WE ARE THE OLDEST CZECH SPORTS ASSOCIATION
Which date should be considered as the moment of creation of a club or any other organization? Tricky question. More than one organization, not only sports, could tell its story. After all, even a few decades ago cyclists were fighting over whether the \u010c\u00daJV, as the acronym of their organization sounded, was founded in 1883 or 1884. The meeting at which the four clubs agreed on the foundation was held in mid-November 1883. But the governorship The Kingdom of Bohemia officially approved the statutes on March 15, 1884, and the first general meeting took place in Prague in Brej\u0161k’s restaurant in Sp\u00e1len\u00e1 street even on April 27, 1884. Usually, the date of establishment of the organization is considered to be the day when the relevant official affixed a stamp to the submitted document, or General Meeting. However, it was on this day that the cyclists in Brej\u0161ek’s restaurant agreed that they would consider November 1883 as the date of establishment of the \u010c\u00daJV.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
They actually followed the same path as the founders of the CKV before them. It can therefore be said that we are slowly approaching the 140th anniversary of the establishment of the Czech Central Union of Velocipedists, the predecessor of the Czech Cycling Association and the oldest sports organization in our countries. Cyclists overcame all sports, including the biggest such as football and the oldest such as athletics, rowing and fencing.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
And our cycling can also boast of a very long list of successes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
She has won countless medals, but she also does well in the field of organization. Prague and Brno welcomed the world championships on the road and the track, Prague, Mlad\u00e1 Boleslav and T\u00e1bor again the world championships in cyclocross, Nov\u00e9 M\u011bsto na Morav\u011b the championships of bikers and we organize world championships in indoor cycling as well as important events in BMX, and we cannot forget the Peace Race, which we can be very proud.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Of course, the greatest achievements include the Olympic medals, of which our riders won eight, with Ji\u0159\u00ed Daler (4 km pursuit race), Anton Tk\u00e1\u010d (sprint) and Jaroslav Kulhav\u00fd (cross country) standing at the highest level. The twenty world championship titles of Jan and Jind\u0159ich Posp\u00ed\u0161il are incredible. It is impossible not to mention Ji\u0159\u00ed Je\u017eek, holder of 6 gold Paralympic medals, who is still the most successful Paralympic cyclist of all time.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
Our cyclists have already brought home 79 gold medals from the world championships (not counting the youth championships) and many more silver and bronze medals.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
